Checking the Efficiency of a Magnetic Graphene Oxide–Titania Material for Catalytic and Photocatalytic Ozonation Reactions in Water

An easily recoverable photo-catalyst in solid form has been synthesized and applied catalytic ozonation the presence of primidone. Maghemite, graphene oxide titania (FeGOTi) constituted solid. Additionally, (TiO2) oxide–titania (GOTi) catalysts were also tested for comparative reasons. The main characteristics FeGOTi 144 m2/g surface area; a 1.29 Raman D G band intensity ratio; 26-emu g−1 magnetic moment; maghemite, anatase brookite crystalline forms; 1.83 eV gap so catalyst can absorb up to visible red region (677 nm). Single ozonation, photolysis, photolytic (PhOz), (CatOz) photocatalytic (PhCatOz) remove In ozone, complete removal primidone was experienced less than 15 min. terms mineralization, best GOTi PhCatOz processes (100% mineralization 2 h). Meanwhile, most efficient CatOz. led, all cases, highest formation HO radicals lowest ozone demand. reuse led some loss efficacy after four runs, likely due C deposition, small lixiviation Fe oxidation.
